This green chili won the People's Choice
Award at the Denver Chili Fest on Oct 3. It
is the special creation of Dave Kessler.
Very tasty & easy to make. It was snarfed
up in no time.
Note that green chiles are basically out
of season. You can use all roasted green
chiles instead of half fresh and it's still
awesome.
Dave's Green Chili
Ingredients:
3 cups roasted green chiles
3 cups raw green chiles
2 Habaneros
4 Serranos
2 Jalapenos
6 medium tomatillos (plum sized)
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
3 cups cooked pork any way you like it
1 lb bacon
3 3/4 cups chicken stock
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp red pepper
1/2 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
3/4 tsp salt
Preparation:
1. In a large skillet cook bacon until done, then
add onions to the bacon grease and cook until
tender.
2. Chop bacon into small pieces, then put bacon
and onion into crockpot and add all spices
.
3. Chop the first 6 ingredients in a food processor,
and cook on medium heat for 2 to 3 hours.
4. You can eat it right away or refrigerate overnight
and reheat and WOW
.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Total time: 3 hours
Makes: ~3 1/2 quarts
