Want to serve something special for a July 4 cookout? There’s nothing like a chile cheeseburger! Hard to beat that mix of flavors. In this version, the cheese and strips of green chile are inside the burger. Makes the flavors really blend. This is a particularly tasty version.
This recipe is just made for cooking on an outdoor grill. You don’t want to press on the burgers while they cook or make these on a George Foreman grill – the cheese will squeeze out.
I used mild chiles and generally I prefer mild in my chile burgers – I mainly want that wonderful chile flavor rather than lots of heat. For these burgers in the photo I added an extra slice of cheese on top.
